When a smile becomes a curtain
To cover all the hidden sorrows,
The truth inside the heart stays locked,
We fear displaying sadness
For boredom seems to be better than being ashamed.
Our number one goal is perfection
So that we get a reputation.
We only show the world our failures
When we are at the top of success,
Just like any fairytale story
Having a happy ending
For a successful end dignifies
The failures and struggles we had.
We know we can let go and do better
But we stay behind the curtain anyway.
We always fail to realise that we are humans,
But we have failed to live humanity.
